2010 Overview

January, 2010

2010 will continue the trends from 2009, and what a year that has been. As predicted, the conservatives have attempted to impede progress and succeeded only in further marginalizing themselves. At this writing, in late summer, they show no signs of waking to reality and morphing into a viable new form, but are continuing to pander to the most regressive elements and losing ground with the middle of U.S. society. We’ll see how that works out for them. If they continue on this path, the mid term elections this November will likely be devastating. However, also as predicted, liberality has its own problems. The far left sulks and threatens revolt as unrealistic expectations are not met fast enough to suit it. The Obama administration is taking things slow and careful and at times seems not to understand that it is indeed in power. But it is not Obama letting the left down, but the opposite. The campaign did not end with the election, but continues on through the entire eight years of his presidency. All of liberality has been slow to come to believe in itself again, but the tide has shifted back to the prevailing wind. It was a long dark period from the early ’80s to the present. It’s understandable that, especially for younger people who have never known anything different, so many are taking so long to trust that the Sun does shine again.

As January opens up, Jupiter remains conjunct Neptune and in semi-sextile to Uranus, but by the end of the month will move almost out of orb and toward a sextile to Pluto. That positive aspect will be in effect next month, continuing to support positive change. Of course, the Uranus semi-sextile remains in place, as it will right on into 2013. This is the dominant outer planet energy for this whole period and bodes very well for continued progress for liberality and enlightenment, whatever the doom and gloomers are saying. The Saturn square Pluto that came into focus through the fall, that at times seems to strengthen conservatism, but really only further exposes and weakens it, remains very strongly in place. Seeming gains by conservatives will continue to be illusory and to actually strengthen the hand of liberality. Remember that at the last Saturn square Pluto, Watergate was happening and the U.S. was leaving Viet Nam in disarray. The parallels will continue to emerge. Take heart, generate light, cooperate and let’s make the most of it.

On more personal levels, the first thing to be aware of is that Mercury remains retrograde until the morning of the 15th, having backed up in our sky since December 26th. Mars is also retrograde, having started on December 20th and backing up until March 20th. See the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods, but remember to allow for more problems than usual in communication and transportation, and for there to be somewhat less energy. The month starts out with the New Year’s Eve full Moon remaining active for the first day and a half or so and finishes with another full Moon running through the last three days. Aside from the retrogrades, January has the usual salt and pepper of positive and cautionary energies to read ahead and plan to deal with. Do be aware of the importance of what you put into motion around the new Moon as the full Moon is accompanied by some of the most cautionary energies of the month. The longest daytime Moon void of course period is on the 1st. There are a handful of half day voids to work around that on either coast can run into more of the daytime.

February, 2010

As February begins, Jupiter has moved all the way out of orb to its recent conjunction to Neptune and semi-sextile to Uranus. This has been a very positive energy adding great power to the Uranus-Neptune which is very positive itself. Have a moment of gratitude for the progress that has been made with it. Now, however, Jupiter has moved into a complex with the Saturn-Pluto square that may seem to some as empowering conservatism, but in reality serves to further expose and weaken it. This will be especially so if they continue to offer nothing positive and are increasingly seen as trying to sabotage the will of the majority. Jupiter is in sextile to Pluto, supporting positive change, and in quincunx to Saturn, further vexing conservatives with revelations coming from surprising places having shocking consequences for them. Things thought gotten away with will prove not to have been. Through the rest of the winter and most of the spring, Saturn will retrograde back away from the square to Pluto, taking more wind out of conservatism’s sails. By now, liberality should be really starting to believe in itself. It will still need to try to discipline itself, not its strong suit, and work cooperatively to get the most done.

On more personal levels, remember that Mars remains retrograde through the month and there will be somewhat less energy available. Do not let old disputes reignite. See the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. Watch the 7th through 9th for problems with and for authority. A disciplined approach is needed through these days. There is another cautionary combination, more troublesome, and running from the 10th into the 13th to read ahead and plan for dealing with. Although the full Moon period around the 28th is relatively positive, the new Moon period has the above cautionary energies leading into and running through it. There are positive options as well, but be sure to make the right choices and be good. Be especially careful not to restart any old disputes and deal wisely with relationship issues. Also be mindful of the cautions running from the 20th through the 23rd. There are, of course, many positive energies to read ahead and plan to make good use of as well. The most significant daytime Moon void of course periods include the 6th, 11th, 16th, 23rd and 25th.

March, 2010

As March begins, Jupiter has moved almost out of orb to the sextile to Pluto and quincunx to Saturn that provided much of the entertainment of last month. Conservatism should be reeling and liberality realizing its ascendancy, but much remains to be done. While conservatism is by nature more disciplined and that is one of its great strengths, liberality has a long sad history of eating its young and blowing its opportunities. The far left will have to get its act together, cooperate with the middle, take what gains are made and not make trouble to the point of impeding progress. The far left needs to look back at 1968, 1980 and 2000 and learn something about getting what can be done done, and then building on that. By mid month, Jupiter will be on its own and out of play with the other outer planets, coming back into the complex late next month. For a few weeks, its positive energy will be missed. The Saturn square Pluto will remain, but weaken through the month as Saturn continues to retrograde away from the exact angle. Things may or may not seem to quiet down somewhat later in the month, but stay buckled up as there will be much going on under the surface that will come to light in the coming months. The Uranus semi-sextile Neptune remains very tight and strong, continuing to support surprising changes. Generate light.

On more personal levels, March starts out with the relatively positive full Moon from the 28th of February still very much in effect. If it’s not going to your liking, then look back to the previous new Moon period to see how you might have made better choices then. Good news is that Mars turns direct on the 10th after having backed up in our sky since December 20th. Over the following two or three weeks as it picks up and resumes normal speed, general energy levels will return to normal as well, and those who began hostilities during the retrograde will begin to see their mistake. The clearest recent example of this is Saddam Hussein invading Kuwait during a Mars retrograde. Remember how that worked out for him? There are no more than the usual positive and cautionary energies, but it is always a good idea to read ahead and make plans for dealing with them. Be sure to make good use of the rather more positive than oftentimes new to full Moon period. The most significant daytime Moon void of course period is on the 1st, and there are a handful of half day voids to work around.

April, 2010

Through most of April, Jupiter will remain out of contact with the other outer planets. By the end of the month, it will have moved into orb to a conjunction with Uranus which, of course, puts it also into semi-sextile with Neptune . This will re-energize liberality to ever more positive change and confidence in its ascendancy. Saturn will continue to retrograde away from the square to Pluto, further deflating conservatism. The bad news is that Saturn will move into orb of opposition to the forming Jupiter-Uranus conjunction and into quincunx to Neptune . Regressive and conservative forces may seem for a time to make gains through the use of technology, mass media and riling up fundamentalism. This will, of course, blow up in their faces, maybe they’ll learn from this one, and it may all make for some interesting spectacle. April may seem disastrous for liberality through much of it, but by the end of the month the silver linings will emerge, and maybe liberals will learn to trust the new period that we really are in now. Participate however you can and do not lose faith in the fleeting dark moments.

On more personal levels, April starts out with a string of cautionary energies running especially from the 2nd through the 5th. The following weekend bears special watching as well with high cautionary energy coming into focus on the 9th and running through the 12th at least. That complex leads into the new Moon on the 14th and you will not want to still be caught up in any unpleasantness through that. The coming full Moon is exact on the 28th. The third weekend also has a gift, Mercury turning retrograde, late on the 17th, or early 18th in eastern time. The retrograde runs through the rest of the month and into May, ending on the 11th. See the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. There are several other high energy aspects, both positive and cautionary and often occurring in contradiction to each other, to read ahead and plan for dealing with. Moon void of course periods tend to be short this month and there are only a few half day voids to have to work around.

May, 2010

As May begins, things should be very interesting in the national and international political and social arenas. The Uranus semi-sextile Neptune , which is the one constant through the next two years, remains very tight and strong, and thank goodness for that. Even better is that Jupiter moves into a tighter conjunction with Uranus later in the month, greatly adding to the overall positivity of this time. The Saturn opposed Jupiter-Uranus and quincunx to Neptune remains tight as well, and some manifestations of that will frighten the fainthearted. But the seeming gains made by conservatism with this energy will unravel and be increasingly exposed as weakness. The fact remains that they are out of ideas and have nothing to offer, unable to do any more than try to impede progress and thus lose even more of the middle. The hardcore base is untouchable, but the middle of U.S. society will not be fooled or swayed. As Jupiter becomes more involved in the complex later in the month you will see the complete undoing of any seeming gains made by conservatism earlier in the month. Liberality must discipline itself and make the most of this period. Participate, cooperate and generate greater light in any and every way that you can.

On more personal levels, remember that last month’s Mercury retrograde period remains with us until Mercury turns direct on the 11th. See the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. There is a string of cautionary energies running from the 2nd right up to the new Moon on the 13th. Of course, there are some positive energies sprinkled through the period, but read ahead and make plans for wise choices. You will want to deal carefully with the very high but contradictory energy from the 16th through the 20th. Making good decisions leading up the new Moon will prove to have been very important as the full Moon period kicks in on the 24th and runs through the end of the month with another string of major cautionary aspects. Communication and transportation problems on the 28th through 30th are only part of it with relationship issues, secrets and potential for problems with authority joining in. This will be a month for vigilance and wisdom. At least there are no long daytime Moon void of course periods to have to deal with.

June, 2010

As June rolls in, the Jupiter conjunct Uranus, both in semi-sextile to Neptune with Saturn in opposition is tight and powerful. The excesses, mistakes and mischief of the right will continue to be exposed and this will be a sight to see. Liberality should be feeling more secure than through much of last month. Saturn’s involvement will seem to set up competing currents that can appear to be supporting both the right and the left, but remember that the over-riding energy is clearly in favor of liberality. Pluto will begin to get back into the act, especially later in the month, setting up some very interesting energy to be dealt with next month. As this month progresses, Jupiter will seem to get out ahead of the complex and will move closer to a square to Pluto, heating things up to be sure, but one should never lose sight of Jupiter’s overwhelmingly positive nature. It will turn retrograde next month and so will remain in the complex for the next several months, adding its positivity to whatever else is coming into and going out of focus. Saturn turned direct late last month, and by the end of the month will be well on its way to completing its last exact square to Pluto into late August. Again, on the surface this will seem to energize conservatism, but will in fact serve to further undermine and expose it.

On more personal levels, June will be a very interesting month. It has a highly cautionary yet strangely positive combination of major energies throughout. They just run one right into another and it’s hard to single out individual periods. As always, be good around the new Moon which is exact on the 12th, and of course be respectful of the full Moon which is exact on the 26th. But know that there are high but contradictory energies connected to and surrounding both. Once again, this month there are no long daytime Moon void of course periods to have to deal with. There is the odd half day void to work around, so be aware of them when they do pop up. Buckle up, because this month will be quite a ride.

July, 2010

Through July, the positive over-riding Uranus semi-sextile to Neptune remains with us as it does for the next couple of years, and we must not lose sight of it. We are very fortunate to have it through this period. This beneficent interplay between revolutionary social change and spirituality reflects the prevailing direction of U.S. society and the world at large, even as other energies seem at times to indicate otherwise. By the end of the month, you will no doubt be hearing about an ominous sounding T-square involving Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto. Dire predictions will be made and some will be frightened by them. Those making these predictions will be missing the facts that although Jupiter and Uranus will oppose Saturn with Pluto in square to that opposition, Jupiter—the single most positive planet—is principally involved and Neptune remains in the semi-sextile to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. We must also never lose sight of the ninety year Neptune sextile Pluto that, while presently separated out somewhat, is the saving grace energy by which we still have almost thirty more years of protection. Relax and don’t let the doom and gloomers get to you. Don’t even get me started on 2012 and the dire predictions surrounding that … All of that said, the battle between liberality and conservatism will rage on, probably never to be ended, and will be quite a show through this month and next in particular. Again, remember the prevailing wind and the positive energies occurring along with the scary looking ones. By the end of the month, all five outer planets are at the party and it will be a wild one. Some liberals will be shaken up by some of what happens, but every seeming step forward by conservatism will be followed by two steps back. The big changes, in U.S. society at least, that came into focus over the last two years will continue.

On more personal levels, July might not be quite as rocking and rolling as June was, but it has quite a bit of high energy of its own. Things will start to heat up on the 8th or so and remain very strong through the 13th. There is very high energy around the new Moon, on the 11th, that is both very positive and highly cautionary and you will want to make the right choices. The full Moon period, getting an early start on the 22nd, is exact on the 25th, and runs on into the 28th, and has some very high energy attached to it that, while primarily positive, has a cautionary component that can turn great opportunity into crisis. Deal wisely with it. Watch the 16th through the 19th for problems in communication and transportation and for the exposure of secrets. There are several more major energies, both positive and cautionary to read ahead and make plans for dealing with. There are only two daytime Moon void of course periods of significance and they are on the 25th and 30th. There is the odd half day void here to be aware of and work around as well.

August, 2010

August continues the trends from July. There will continue to be noise about the big bad T-square, discussed and disposed of last month. Things will be very intense and at times seem to be going badly. At those times, taking a big picture approach will be helpful as, once again, things really are rapidly moving back to the prevailing direction toward greater liberality and enlightenment. Don’t let seeming counter indications affect you too much, as they will be fleeting and prove in the end to be blessings in disguise. As noted last month, all five outer planets are now interacting, some in so-called negative configuration, while other more positive energies counteract and ensure the right outcome. For the last few days of July and the first few of August, even inner planet Mars gets into the act, conjunct Saturn, and seems once again to energize conservatism. This is also a period when bad things are more likely to happen, but this will all be short lived and illusory. Any seeming success by mischief makers of any variety will be counter-productive and only push populations away from their positions. Positive change continues. As the month progresses, the final exact Saturn square Pluto for this go around will form and begin to separate. This energy, if seen as isolated from the larger complex, can be viewed as dark, dangerous and supporting plutocratic conservatism. But it cannot be seen as separate from the other outer planets at this time, and the positive Jupiter-Uranus-Neptune part of the complex actually grows stronger. It is also instructive, as I noted in January, that a look back at the last Saturn square Pluto in 1974 reveals that Watergate—resulting in Nixon’s resignation—was in full swing and the U.S. was leaving Viet Nam in less than dignified form. Through this period, the abuses and offenses of the last administration, and movement conservatism itself, will continue to be exposed, pushing the middle of U.S. society further into the emerging ascendancy of liberality. By now, I would hope, liberality will have gained the confidence to firmly seize the reins of power and get some things done.

On more personal levels, this will be an unusual and high energy month. The first ten days are a rollercoaster of relationship, social and other kinds of energy that run to the extremes, both positive and cautionary. This period runs right up to and a bit beyond the new Moon on the 9th and you’ll sow seeds that will bear fruit, sweet or bitter, through a very intense and longer than usual full Moon period. Read ahead and plan for dealing with all of this. There is some very cautionary and dangerous energy to be aware of on the 3rd and 4th and it will be a good idea to extend your vigilance a day or two on either side. As if all of this isn’t enough, Mercury turns retrograde on the 20th and backs up in our sky until September 12th. See the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. The only long daytime Moon void of course period is on the 11th well into the 12th. There are a few half day voids to work around and the others are all short.

September, 2010

September will probably seem to cool off a bit after the very intense last two months. There will certainly still be very much going on and we will need to stay vigilant and involved, but there will be some decrease in the overall pressure. Saturn will continue to move on past the last square to Pluto further deflating conservatism. Do not be surprised by some of the desperate measures taken by both U.S. conservatives and on the global level as well. Whatever they do, however successful it may appear at first, it will blow up in their faces. These overviews are intended primarily for a U.S. audience pertaining mainly to events in this country, but you might want to keep an eye on Iran and other theocratic or otherwise harshly authoritarian regimes through this year. It will be quite a show. Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune, all in retrograde through the month, become tighter in their positive configuration. As Saturn motors off and Pluto begins to move out from the complex—not to get back into the act until early next year—liberality needs to step up its game and make strides through this month.

On more personal levels, September is another intense month with one or more major energies on most days. Remember that the Mercury retrograde period that started last month on the 20th remains with us through much of the month and turns direct on the 12th. See the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. There is a particularly cautionary period on 12th and 13th that should be observed for a day or two on either side. Be especially mindful around the new Moon, exact on the 8th, and for a couple of days on either side of it. Due to related energies, the full Moon, exact on the 23rd, will run exceptionally long. Consider it to begin on the 19th and run all the way through the 26th. As always, there are many other major energies both positive and cautionary to read ahead and plan for dealing with. The most significant daytime Moon void of course periods are on the 20th and the 25th.

October, 2010

October will continue September’s trends. Saturn continues to move away from the square to Pluto and by the end of the month can be considered to be almost out of orb. This will further render conservatism out of gas, increasingly impotent and possibly even irrelevant. The chickens will be coming home to roost and liberality should really begin to realize its ascendancy. The positive Jupiter-Uranus-Neptune complex remains in place, continuing to support the shift of the center of U.S. society to the left. The benefits of this should be starting to be undeniably apparent. Far left, can you please, please behave? Moderates, can you grow a set? We must not waste the opportunity that these times represent. Midterm U.S. elections will come into focus through the month and it will be something to behold, with liberals poised to take more seats in both houses. If conservatives have continued to behave in 2010 as they did in 2009, they will receive a beating for the generations and will lose power in areas long thought to be invincibly theirs. One could almost feel sorry for them if not remembering how they acted when they had the power. But again, how will the left behave?

On more personal levels, October continues the string of intense and high energy months we’ve been having recently. The month starts out with a bang with high cautionary energies running from the 1st right up to the new Moon on the 7th. By the new Moon itself, most of the preceding cautionary energy will be subsiding. But the coming full Moon, exact on the 22nd, is very intense with cautionary energies both related to it and independent of it. Venus turns retrograde early on the 8th and backs up in our sky until November 18th, throwing a monkey wrench into relationships. See the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. There are one or more major energies, both positive and cautionary, on most other days this month as well and, as always, it will be a good idea to read ahead and make plans for dealing with them. There are also a few days having several hour Moon void of course periods to be aware of and work around.

November, 2010

November will look a lot like October. Saturn continues to separate out from the square to Pluto and is long gone from the intense complex from the summer. Pluto also continues to move away leaving the positive Jupiter-Uranus-Neptune in place and dominant. This, of course, continues to support positive change and the swing toward greater liberality and enlightenment that is our natural and prevailing direction. Liberality will go into the midterm election wondering where the big bad conservatives have gone. Such a short time ago they were in near total control and believing that it would always be that way. Liberals need to remember that while this period will be with us for some time, it will only be for that time. The pendulum will swing back one day and we cannot waste any of this time foolishly. But back to the present, the middle of U.S. society will by now be so tired of the obstinate obstructionism to anything positive that electoral punishment will be meted out. Some previously secure conservatives will face challenges and, in some cases, defeat that could not have been imagined in the recent past. With Saturn and Pluto relatively isolated and the positive Jupiter-Uranus-Neptune tightly in place and growing stronger through the month, the gains probable for liberality may now seem to make the promise of November, 2008, more possible than ever.

On more personal levels, November seems to start out like the few previous months, but then settles down and becomes more normal. The new Moon, exact late on the 5th or early on the 6th, is not as intense as others we’ve had this year, but do treat it with respect. The full Moon, exact on the 21st, has some high positive and cautionary energy attached to it and, while not as intense as recent examples, still deserves to be approached wisely. Relationships are likely to be a dominant theme through much of the month as we live through the rest of the Venus retrograde which ends on the 18th. Watch for relationships and issues from the past and see the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. There are many major energies to read ahead and make plans for dealing with. The most significant daytime Moon void of course period is on the 16th.

December, 2010

December really just continues the trends from the past three months. The Saturn square Pluto that was one of the dominating energies through much of the year will by now be a faint memory along with the conservative dominance that lasted almost thirty years. The positive Jupiter-Uranus-Neptune remains in place and only grows stronger through the month supporting changes that by now should be blowing the minds of the most pessimistic of liberals from a year ago. It is a new world and the prevailing wind, looking back over the past 250 years, definitely toward greater liberality and enlightenment has reasserted itself. Finally the past thirty year unfortunate period of blowback can be considered to be over. These blowbacks will occur from time to time, but this last one was a doozey. That is one big reason that liberality has taken so long to realize its new rightful place and to finally seize the reins. Now it is time to behave, be disciplined, make the right things happen, and how about some fun?

On more personal levels, December, like November, will seem to start out as intense as earlier months, but will quickly settle down to a more normal pace. The new Moon, exact on the 5th, has some positive energy attached to it so make the most of that. But be aware that while the full Moon, exact early on the 21st, is an eclipse which serves to intensify it. There are the usual salt and pepper positive and cautionary energies to read ahead and make plans for maximizing and minimizing. The biggest news is this year’s last Mercury retrograde period that begins on the 10th and ends late on the 29th or early on the 30th. See the Retrograde pages at the beginning of the book for more on these periods. The most significant daytime Moon void of course period is on the 29th and there are a few half day voids to work around.
